  • While everyone’s pain-tolerance is different, lip blushing is not a painful procedure.

Your lips are numbed using a topical anesthetic before the procedure, and re-applied throughout the procedure. The anesthetic will make for a painless experience as the permanent lip color is being inserted.

Most clients do not experience any pain or discomfort during a lip tattoo procedure.

Proper maintenance and following post-care guidelines are recommended to increase the longevity of your brow color.

  • Apply a natural lip scrub (honey w/sugar) at least 3 days before the appointment (2 times per day).

Apply Aquaphor or moisturizing lip balm as many times as possible at least 3 days before.

If you get cold sore fever blisters it is highly recommended to start taking a prescription (antivirus) 5 days before the procedure to prevent an outbreak.

No alcohol or caffeine 48 hrs before the procedure.

  • Lip procedures are performed by depositing pigment into the lips, building layers of color using a permanent cosmetics machine, and delivering natural results.

The initial process takes anywhere from 2 to 3 hours.

  • Typically, lip blushing lasts between 2 to 3 years and will gradually lighten and soften over time requiring a periodic touch-up. The duration varies on factors like skin-type, lifestyle and color of the pigment. By sticking to your permanent cosmetics aftercare instructions, you will maximize the appearance of your lip blushing overtime.

  • 3 hours after the procedure, you can use an ice pack, wrapped in a clean paper towel, to help with swelling. Cleanse your lips morning and night with a mild antibacterial soap (Dial Foam works great). Then apply Bacitracin ointment using clean q-tips (not your fingers) 2-3 times per day for 3-4 days. Keep your hands clean and avoid touching the affected area(s).

After 3-4 days of Bacitracin application, being to apply Aquaphor (using a clean q-tip NOT your fingers) as needed until lips are healed or at least one-week post-procedure (whichever is longer). Avoid activities that’ll induce sweating for 24 hours. Keep your hands clean and avoid touching the affected area(s).

Do not scrub or pick treated areas.

Do not use peroxide or Neosporin on treated areas.

Do not expose the area to direct sun or to tanning beds.

Avoid exposing the area to excessive moisture or humidity such as facials, swimming, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, and steamy showers. Failing to adhere to these guidelines can result in faded pigment and premature lightening. During and after the healing process, for longest-lasting results, avoid: tanning beds, exposure to direct sun, chlorinated pools/spas, soap and chemicals (including cleansers and makeup), avoid Retin-A, moisturizers, glycolic acids, exfoliants, and anti-aging products. Following these guidelines, along with periodic touch-ups, will ensure longer-lasting results following your lip tattooing procedure.

Important: If you get cold sores or have ever had one in the past you will need an antiviral prescription to avoid any breakout or flare-ups. Consult your physician for more information.

Though rare, infection is possible. If you see signs of infection, such as: persistent increased redness or swelling, fever, drainage, or oozing, contact your physician immediately.
